Pan’s Story
Pan, born around August 5, 2019, joined Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue on September 20, 2020. Her early upbringing lacked the socialization and training needed to build confidence, leaving her reactive and fearful of strangers. Despite this, Pan has made tremendous progress in just a short time at the rescue. She recently interacted well with a stranger, allowing handling (including her feet!), showing her potential to grow with the right guidance. Pan thrives with other dogs, who help her feel more secure, but she’s not suited for homes with cats or children due to her current reactivity and need for a calm environment.
Pan’s intelligence and athleticism make her a fantastic candidate for an experienced owner who can provide structure, patience, and training. She’s great with other dogs, and a confident canine companion in her new home will help her continue to build trust. Currently undergoing training at the rescue, Pan is on her way to becoming a loyal and engaging partner for someone willing to invest in her journey.
Ideal Home
Pan would thrive in an experienced, adult-only home with at least one confident dog to help her feel secure. A patient owner who understands Border Collies and can provide consistent training is essential. She’s not suited for homes with cats or children due to her reactivity and need for a calm environment. An active lifestyle with opportunities for mental and physical stimulation—such as agility, herding, or other structured activities—would be ideal for channeling her energy and intelligence. A secure, quiet home where she can continue to build trust at her own pace will help Pan shine.
